Royal Superintendent Rick Kershner expressed his excitement, stating, “Royal ISD's mission is "Investing in our Tomorrow". This is only the beginning of the enrollment and growth in Royal. Our schools are an integral part of the Falcon community, and we are excited about welcoming our new learners while continuing to pursue excellence for our current students. This is an amazing time to be in the Falcon family, and I cannot wait to see where the future takes our district.”
Approximately 45 people gathered to celebrate the occasion, including Royal ISD School Board members Scott Hartmann, Elton Foster, Cori Vahalik, and Adrian Rocha, along with Royal’s partners in building, district and campus administrators, students, and more. The event featured opening statements by Superintendent Kershner, followed by thoughts from Gallagher team member Jeff Hurd, culminating in the symbolic first shovel dig.
Construction is now underway, with Royal ISD partnering with Stantec, Gallagher Construction, and Tellepsen on this project. The new 800-student school is slated to open in August 2025. Superintendent Kershner noted, “The new campus will provide our students with a world-class learning environment that will inspire and empower them for years to come. We are grateful for the support of our community and look forward to the positive impact this school will have on our children's education."
